What makes a ninja sword different from a katana?

 Updated Feb 2026

The most visible difference is the blade profile — a traditional ninjato has a straight or near-straight blade, while a katana has a curved blade. Ninja swords also typically feature a square tsuba (hand guard) rather than the round or decorative tsuba found on katana. The straight blade was historically suited for thrusting and close-quarters use, while the katana's curve optimized slashing cuts. In this collection you will find both classic straight-blade ninjato and katana-style swords with stealth-inspired black fittings.
