How should I care for a natural bamboo sword stand over time?

 Updated Mar 2026

Natural bamboo stands require minimal maintenance, but a few habits will keep them looking clean and structurally sound over the years. Dust the stand regularly with a soft, dry cloth — microfiber works well — rather than using liquid cleaners that can penetrate the bamboo grain and cause subtle swelling or discoloration over time. If the surface begins to look dry in a low-humidity environment, a very light application of natural wood or bamboo conditioning oil, wiped thin and buffed dry, will restore its luster without leaving residue that could transfer to your saya. Avoid placing bamboo stands in direct sunlight for extended periods, as UV exposure will gradually bleach the natural warm tone of the bamboo. Store or display in a space with moderate, relatively stable humidity — the same conditions that are good for your swords are good for the stand.
