What steel is used in the Zoro Purple Sword replicas?
Updated Mar 2026
Both the Nidai Kitetsu and Enma replicas in this collection use 1045 carbon steel for the blade. This alloy contains approximately 0.45% carbon, placing it in the medium-high carbon range preferred for display katana. It offers enough hardness to hold a refined edge geometry while remaining less brittle than higher-carbon options like 1095 or T10. For collectors, 1045 carbon steel also polishes to a clean, mirror-adjacent finish that photographs well and holds up reliably in long-term display conditions without excessive maintenance demands.
