What steel grades are used in broadsword collectibles?
Updated Feb 2026
Broadswords in this collection are built from high-carbon steel grades that provide the hardness and surface quality appropriate to the broad blade profiles of the dao and display-oriented broadsword forms. Manganese Steel is the primary grade across the dao broadsword pieces: its exceptional surface hardness and consistent finish quality complement the dao's broad blade well, and the deep even finish gives the wide blade surface a refined display character. 1045 carbon steel is used in accessible-tier broadsword pieces with reliable full-tang construction. 1060 carbon steel appears in select fantasy-style broad-blade pieces. All grades are high-carbon rather than stainless, confirming proper heat treatment and genuine blade hardness. Full-tang construction is standard throughout.
