Do red ninjato swords have the same full-tang construction as regular ninjato?
Updated Feb 2026
Yes - the red finish is a surface treatment applied on top of the same high-carbon steel blade construction that defines quality ninjato collectibles in any finish color. Beneath the red coating or treatment, each piece features a properly forged high-carbon steel blade - 1045, Manganese Steel, or Damascus variants - that has been heat-treated and ground to the same standards as conventionally finished swords. Full-tang construction is standard across the range: the blade steel runs from tip through the complete handle and is secured by a mekugi retention pin. The color treatment does not affect the structural integrity of the blade or the handle assembly - it is an additional surface step completed after all the core construction work is done. Collectors can therefore choose a red ninjato based on aesthetic preference without any compromise to the construction quality that distinguishes a serious collectible from a decorative prop.
