Does a katana table stand work on an uneven or slightly sloped surface?
Updated Feb 2026
A katana table stand requires a flat, level surface for stable performance. On a slightly uneven surface - for example a table with minor warp or a shelf that is not perfectly level - the stand may rock slightly at its base corners, which compromises stability under the weight of the swords. Before placing a table stand on any surface, confirm it sits flat by pressing each base corner in turn and checking for movement. If any corner rocks, a small self-adhesive furniture leveling pad under that corner corrects the issue. On surfaces with a noticeable slope - more than a degree or two - the stand will not sit securely and the sword may shift position over time. In this case, a wall mount is a better solution than a table stand, as the mounting hardware can be leveled independently of the wall surface. For the vast majority of indoor display surfaces in good condition, this is not a concern - the stand sits flat and stable without any adjustment.
