How do I maintain the pink-red finish on the blade?

 Updated Mar 2026

The gradient pink-to-red coloring on the Mitsuri Sword blade is a surface-applied finish, so protecting it requires a slightly more cautious care routine than a plain polished steel blade. Avoid abrasive cloths or metal polishes, which can wear through the color treatment. Instead, use a soft microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints and dust after handling. Apply a thin coat of choji oil or a light mineral oil to the blade surface every few months - particularly important in humid climates - to prevent moisture from interacting with the underlying steel. Store the sword horizontally on a padded display stand or in its original box, away from direct sunlight, which can gradually fade surface-treated finishes.
