What makes Kokushibo's blade design different from other Nichirin swords?
Updated Mar 2026
Most Nichirin blades in Demon Slayer are straight or gently curved, defined primarily by their single distinctive color. Kokushibo's sword breaks from that convention in two major ways. First, the blade features an irregular, crescent-moon-shaped edge with a wave-like profile that mirrors the arcing movements of his Moon Breathing technique. Second, the blade surface is embedded with organic eye motifs — a visual manifestation of his demonic physiology after nearly five centuries as Upper Rank One. The tsuba (hand guard) on replica versions reflects this eye theme as well, making the entire sword assembly visually cohesive. No other Nichirin design in the series combines these two elements, which is precisely why it has become one of the most sought-after replica subjects among Kimetsu no Yaiba collectors.
