How does Sanemi's sword differ from Kokushibo's design?
Updated Mar 2026
Though both swords fall within the green Nichirin aesthetic, they are distinct in their fittings and symbolic design language. Sanemi Shinazugawa's sword features a green tsuba that reflects the chaotic, wind-driven energy of his breathing style — clean, aggressive, and nature-inspired. Kokushibo's sword, by contrast, is defined by its eye-motif tsuba, referencing the supernatural Moon Breathing techniques he developed over centuries as an Upper Moon demon. One sword represents disciplined Hashira mastery; the other, an ancient and otherworldly power. Collectors often display them as a thematic contrast between light and shadow within the Kimetsu no Yaiba universe.
