What is the best way to display a Muichiro Sword at home?

 Updated Mar 2026

A horizontal two-tier katana stand is the most popular display method and allows the blade and scabbard to be shown simultaneously - blade on the upper tier, saya on the lower. For wall mounting, a horizontal bracket set at eye level creates a gallery-style presentation that highlights the sword's full profile. Whichever method you choose, keep the display away from direct sunlight, which can fade the tsuka-ito (handle wrapping) and alter the blade's finish over time. Apply a thin coat of camellia oil to the blade every two to three months using a soft cloth, wiping from the spine toward the edge rather than along it. This simple routine preserves the steel's appearance and prevents any surface oxidation common in humid or coastal environments.
