The tsuka is wrapped in traditional diamond-pattern black ito cord over white samegawa (genuine ray-skin), giving the handle both grip texture and the authentic layered look of Japanese koshirae construction. The cord wrapping is firm and even, with no loose sections, and the exposed samegawa diamonds create the contrast that defines this style.

The bronze tsuba is the visual centerpiece of the fittings. Cast in an ornate scroll design with gold and silver gilding, the open-work relief gives the guard a three-dimensional quality that stands out against the black tsuka. Bronze menuki and matching fuchi-kashira complete the copper-toned hardware set, tying the fittings into a cohesive koshirae.
